Quand la moitié d’AmmonContact s’associe à la moitié de Scienz Of Life pour un album déjà disponible sur Shaman Work Recordings, ça donne “What’s The Science? Elevation” ; une collaboration entre le producteur angelino Carlos Nino et le rappeur Lil’Sci. Un album qui puise dans les intonations jazz autant que dans le discours moralement investi de références incontournables (Afrika Bambaataa, KRS-One, Rakim ou P.E.) pour un résultat qui sort le hip-hop du carcan de l’entertainment pour le plonger la tête la première dans un état d’esprit proche de la volonté de conscientiser l’auditeur au-délà de la simple musique proposée. Mais laissons à Lil’ Sci le soin de résumer cet album de la plus claire des façons, non sans noter tout de même les apparitions de quelques proches bien connus, au premier rang desquels Daedelus, Nobody, Prince Po, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson…
